Free GATE 2024 study material related to applied mechanics and design

As GATE 2014 syllabus contains the following major subjects which are classified into four groups.
  1. Engineering Mathematics
  2. Applied Mechanics and Design
  3. Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Science
  4. Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering
Click on each name of the subject and download the appropriate ebook to get the study material. Print each book having the same content which is given in the GATE Mechanical Engineering syllabus. There is no need to print the complete book but part of it which is common in the GATE syllabus of appropriate part.

1. Mechanics of Solids

Mechanics of Solids include 'Engineering Mechanics and Strength of Materials

Engineering Mechanics: 
Free body diagrams and equilibrium; trusses and frames; virtual work; kinematics and dynamics of particles and of rigid bodies in plane motion, including impulse and momentum (linear and angular) and energy formulations; impact.

Strength of Materials: 
Stress and strain, stress-strain relationship and elastic constants, Mohr’s circle for plane stress and plane strain, thin cylinders; shear force and bending moment diagrams; bending and shear stresses; deflection of beams; torsion of circular shafts; Euler’s theory of columns; strain energy methods; thermal stresses.


2. Machine Design

3. Theory of Machines

4. Mechanical Vibration

Free and forced vibration of single degree of freedom systems; effect of damping; vibration isolation; resonance, critical speeds of shafts.
